The sword of the Spirit.

 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Ephesians 6:17

Christians are in a Race full of spiritual battles of most dangerous are the works of the flesh. The Scripture had made it known that the weapon of our warfare is not carnal. We are to wrestle against powers, principalities, demons and sins(flesh). Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

The scripture compared the word of God to a sword in Ephesians 6:17 and in Hebrews 4:12 ”For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” The word of God possesses  Power to fight the Devil and his works (sin). A perfect case study of one who wrestled the Devil with the sword of the spirit (word of God) is Our Lord Jesus, if he hadn’t been deeply rooted he would have fell as prey to the deception of the Devil. All glory to God, for Christ overcame through the word of God. A Christian warrior is never to get weary and anytime the desire to compromise comes; This is were the role of Christian  faith come to play Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. We should know how indispensable  the word of God is in wrestling with the devil and his works(sins). Many pray a lot without any knowledge of the word of God not knowing the word boost our prayers to be answered, it can also stand as a proof to get answers to our prayers.

Conclusion:

The importance of the sword of the Spirit (word of God) can not be neglected in times of Spiritual battles; Christian are to recognize the word to be a spiritual sword in battling principality, power and the works of the flesh (Sin).
