He chooses the foolish things to confound the wise

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.  NIV (1 Corinthians 1:27)

T

he ways of God had always been unpredictable by men. He has said it that His ways aren’t ours neither His thoughts are ours. Right from time He has always shown this trait to prove how unpredictable He is. How has His ways been different from ours? Many of us live life and judge the affairs of life by facts, philosophies and clear proves of how things go. Anything or fact that contradicts the natural fact of nature, we assumed such fact is lacking intellectual clarity. In other words, such fact is foolish. God is a spirit and He does operate in the spirit and not physical. If He were to work by physical facts, we would understand Him, but He rather works in the spirit to subject the natural things to supernatural by choosing lowly, foolish things to confuse the wise.

Let us go into the scriptures and see examples of where God used the lowly things to confound the wise; examples are (i) the parting of the red sea. “It would be unbelievable by a philosopher or an atheist that the red sea could part making pillars of water”. (ii) “the floating of the axe by sinking of a light wood.” According to the law of science, a light wood will never sink let alone to force a heavy metal to float (2 King 6:6) (iii) a piece of money from the mouth of a fish. Doesn’t this sound weird? There is no natural facts that can prove how a piece of money could come from a fish. (Matthew 17: 27) Our God has already put to test the first ATM even before technology and science came in. There are many more biblical examples were God confounded the wise by foolish things.

God is a spirit, and to understand His ways, you must be in the spirit. You can’t comprehend Him by philosophies, facts or science.

Dear reader, I am sure you are blessed this morning. Always be led by His spirit to comprehend His ways. His ways aren’t judged by earthly wisdom, facts and philosophies. His ways are understood when you are led by His spirit.

Prayer   “Father thank you for your word today. Lord help me not to rely on my wisdom in understanding your ways but rather let me be led by your spirit to know your ways and your thoughts for my life”.
